Tuscany Valley Bar & Grill

Aurora, Colorado

Sometimes you walk into a new restaurant with a little bit of hesitation. Especially if the location has been difficult for restaurants in the past. We stopped in at the Tuscany Valley Bar & Grill On Iliff in Aurora. The atmosphere was delightful contrasting dark wood tables against the light stucco walls. My wife and I were looking for a light dinner on this particular evening and were very pleasantly surprised.

I chose the Italian Steak which is a crisp & tender Angus sirloin steak breaded & fried. Topped with marinara & Monterey Jack cheese. I am always a little afraid that a breaded steak is going to be a covering for a tough cut of meat but this steak was extremely tender and was really enjoyable. And it was only $9. My wife had the fish and chips which were really enjoyable. $10

We decided to go back for a more relaxed meal to celebrate our daughter's birthday. We also wanted to find out how their steaks compared to some other area steak houses. We started with Saganaki as a appetizer. This is a flaming cheese dish that if you haven't tried, you really should. It is quite fun. $8.5

I asked for an entree recommendation because I wanted to try something unique. They recommended the Lamb Shank. $18 I never would have ordered this dish without a recommendation as I picture this as a hunk of bone on a plate. The dish was incredible. They simmer the lamb shanks all day making them so tender that the meat just falls away from the bone. I am not sure what seasonings are used (it is an old-country recipe), but it was fabulous.
My wife chose a filet mignon, $21, and my daughter had a T-bone steak, $18. They were both lightly seasoned, broiled to perfection and tender and tasty. I prefer these steaks to any I have had in other Aurora restaurants. The Angus beef is incredible.
The wine list is rather limited but you can definitely find a nice choice at a reasonable price to go along with your dinner.

All in all we found Tuscany Valley Bar & Grill to be a gem in Aurora. Whether you are celebrating a special occasion or just looking for a nice dinner out, make sure that you check this place out. You will be pleased. Now I have to go back and try some of the other entrees.
