All of the dinners are served with a choice of soup or salad,
rice or potatoes, and vegetable. If this is too much and you
are looking for a lighter fare, they do have a selection of
lighter fare items that foregoes the extras. The New England
clam chowder was rich and creamy and better tasting to me than
any I have ever had before. My wife loved the garlic - granola
dressing on her salad. It was very different but very good.
One of my daughters decided to try the Strawberry Pepper Duck
which is a pan-seared duck breast over a sauté of strawberries
and cracked black pepper. Paired with port glace. She loved
it. I had to have a taste as well. The delicate sauce with the
tender breast of duck was truly delightful. It was a beautiful
dish as well. My wife chose the Crab Filet which is an aged
petite tenderloin, topped with Blue Crab and Oliviase. The steak
will melt in your mouth and the crab adds a delightful extra
flavor. My choice was the Point Reyes Blue New York Strip -
a 12 Ounce hand carved steak, topped with Blue Cheese and served
with sage demi-glace. Wow! The Blue Cheese was not overpowering
but was a great addition to the steak. I have never had anything
like it. The Hearthstone knows how to deliver a steak at the
temperature you desire (a problem I have found at even some
fine steak houses in Denver). We asked for medium rare and it
came out perfectly. I am sorry to say that we were not able
to try the interesting array of desserts. We just didn't have
any room left. Maybe next time because there definitely will
be a next time.
